The story of the Harris Lebus furniture factory is a fascinating one. It was once the largest in the world employing thousands of people. The factory played a significant part in the efforts of both world wars. From 1840 to the late twentieth century the factory provided its workers with more than just employment including a vibrant sports and social scene conducted from dedicated facilities.
Please click here for a pictorial timeline of the factory or here for a brief illustrated history. This website has been useful for ex workers and their relatives, many of whom have contributed personal memories and photographs here. Through this website I hope to keep the story alive by collecting as much information as possible.
